Exploring businesses and investments at NUSS Overseas Business Mission to Manila

Hungry for more knowledge?

Despite the anticipation for the holiday season, there is no rest for the hardworking folks at PINC. To further develop our knowledge and experience in the crypto industry, we attended the exciting, 4th NUSS Overseas Business Mission in Manila, Philippines, which was held from September 12 to 15, 2018.

It is no secret that we would love to extend our influence and business ventures to other countries, especially to our neighbours in Asia, which includes the lovely land of the Philippines. The Philippines is a country that presents many opportunities for PINC; thus we were more than thrilled to be a part of this event! The primary goal of our trip was to have a better understanding of the business environment in this country and to engage with business leaders whom we could partner with.

In comparison to the other days, our first day was not too intense. Upon arrival, we checked in to the Berjaya Makati Hotel, before heading to I’M Hotel, where a networking dinner was being held between Singapore and the Philippines. The second day was a bit more hectic – we started our day early as our meeting with the Embassy of the Republic of Singapore began at 10 in the morning, which was followed by a reception at Divina Law. In the afternoon, we had a sharing session with Filinvest, located at Bristol Showsuites. In the evening, we had another networking session with the Singapore Business Council, which enabled us to meet many people who shared the same passion for cryptocurrency as we do.

We started our third day by going to the Industry and Investments building to attend the session with the Philippine Board of Investments (BOI). Our afternoon was pretty action-packed as we attended meetings hosted by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority, Maybank Philippines, and Federation of Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. The very productive day ended off with a nice dinner together with Gatmaytan Yap Patacsil Gutierrez & Protacio of C&G Law.

On our final day, we travelled to the city that the Philippines has been developing, Clark, where we were introduced to officials from NUSS, BCDA, CDC and CIAC. We then joined the tour at the Clark Freeport Zone, and the New Clark city where I only have praises to sing about it. It was the best way to end our trip, as we could see a good future for us in the Philippines.
